Vice President, Strategic Alignment
Matthew J. Oldani joined Deaconess Foundation as Director, Administration in January 2014, and was promoted to Vice President, Strategic Alignment in 2015. A native St. Louisan, Mr. Oldani spent seven years as the Manager, Bear Foundations at Build-A-Bear Workshop where he directed the company’s two corporate foundations: the Build-A-Bear Workshop Foundation and the Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation. Mr. Oldani’s responsibilities included managing the foundations and its grant making activity, community relations, public relations, and other corporate charitable initiatives.
Prior to working at Build-A-Bear, Mr. Oldani worked as a development officer for 15 years for various organizations in the District of Columbia and in St. Louis. Mr. Oldani serves as the Board Chair for the Gateway Center for Giving and led the search committee for the Center’s new president and CEO. Mr. Oldani holds a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Arts in American Studies from Saint Louis University. Mr. Oldani, his wife, and his son reside in St. Louis County.
