Deaconess Foundation

What We Fund

Funding Priority Areas
In 2003, Deaconess Foundation Board and Staff reviewed its approach to grantmaking and decided on an altered course for the foreseeable future. Because the future of so many organizations was threatened by the economic environment, the Foundation decided to focus its funding on capacity building.

For Deaconess Capacity Building means providing resources to child-serving organizations that will enable them to improve measurably their internal operational systems so as to increase their services and enhance their chances of long-term survivability. In other words, capacity building is about giving organizations more horsepower to fulfill their missions.
